Jessy and Luis' Intimate Wedding in Batangas

Remember that beach photoshoot engagement reveal a few months back? Well here’s another–Jessy Mendiola and Luis Manzano shared with the public their happy news a month after their intimate wedding. The celebrity couple was wed on February 21, 2021 and the newly-minted Mrs. Manzano first dropped a wedding photo on Easter Sunday.

News traveled quickly and more photos showed that Luis and Jessy invited a few guests to their intimate wedding that featured romantic shades of pink and wine red. The groom himself wore a three piece pink suit by Paulo Lazaro while their guests were dressed in varying hues. Jessy’s minimalist bridal dress featuring billowing sleeves was designed by celeb-favorite Patricia Santos and her heels by Jefferson Si.

In true Luis fashion, his vows begin in jest. He recites the words to Gary Valenciano’s popular song “Warrior is a Child” before joking that he had opened the wrong file. Jessy looks on and by the first sentence, already realizes that Luis is being his usual goofy self. Luis says in his vows: “As we take this step today, I want to promise you that I will love you each day that comes. Even those days na pareho tayong ‘di kamahal-mahal, I will choose to love…I promise to be your rock when you’re weak, and to put a smile on your face even on the darkest of days.”

Jessy says in her vows: “I will protect you and I promise that if you grow weak, I will be there to fight your battles for you… Today is the beginning of our journey, our lives together. I choose to spend today and all of my tomorrows with you.”

Luis and Jessy worked with the wedding industry’s best of the best, including Gideon Hermosa, who brought the romance to the venue with his styling. Jessy writes in her Instagram post for Gideon: “We weren’t expecting anything grand or out of this world, and yet the set-up was more than what we expected. It was breathtaking. We requested Gideon to keep it simple and clean, and he delivered. The mix of pink and red roses was enough to add color to the greenery of The Farm at San Benito. We are ever so grateful to Gideon for coming up with a beautiful design on such short notice. He kept everything perfect down to the last detail. He even gave me tissue to hide under my bouquet, to wipe my tears just in case I cry. ? We love you @gideonhermosa

She also wrote their heartfelt thanks to their documentation team, Team Pat Dy, Caliber King and Bob Nicolas. She writes, “Thank you @teampatdy@bobnicolas and team for capturing beautiful moments during our special day. I was so nervous while walking, I didn’t notice that I was already walking too fast Somehow @caliberking was able to whisper in front of me while taking my photos, and said “walk slowly and savour the moment. This is your moment.” Thank you, Cal! I really needed that. ?

To @bobnicolas and team, thank you for sharing your talent with us. Our wedding video is everything but perfect. We are forever grateful.”

Luis and Jessy only put together their intimate wedding in three weeks, and if it we were to base it on their photos and videos, it’s quite an encouragement to all brides and grooms planning their wedding! A picture perfect wedding can be done with the right people even with a small amount of time.

Based on the recent celebrity trend, we think we’re going to see more wedding and engagement reveals as well as thematic dressing for intimate wedding guests.

Don and Clar - DIY Pre-Wedding in Abu Dhabi

'Be natural. Focus kayo sa hilig niyo' –Don

Don Gonzales Gaspar and Clarice Bernabe Ortiz met in school and just like the usual student romance, they went through the hoops of prioritizing studies over their love lives, dealing with parents’ approvals, and timing. After breaking up just months into their first run, Don decided to take his chances again and court Clarice. “Siya pa rin talaga nasa puso ko,” Don says.

Don and Clar are nurses in Abu Dhabi which means the current situation is making it a challenge for the two to get married in person with their closest family and friends. But they were still able to pull off a pre-wedding video which they did themselves and shot by Carl Mantos Films and Stills.

“Clar was behind everything for our pre-nup,” Don says. “Nag-focus lang kami sa mga gusto namin–we love coffee so we wanted a photoshoot in a coffee shop. And we miss beaches, because we’re OFWs and we’re longing for vacations, we really wanted nature.”

Of course safety protocols were second nature to these nurses. “We made sure to follow minimum health standards, like social distancing, wearing masks after shooting, and always washing our hands.” It helps that before their shoot, the two had their latest PCR test as part of their routine for work.

Don’s advise for couples who might go DIY for their prenup shoot is to “Be natural. Focus kayo sa hilig niyo.”

3 Things We Loved About Alex Gonzaga's Wedding

TV host, actress, and vlogger Alex Gonzaga announced via her YouTube channel that she and Lipa City councilor Mikee Morada were married last November 2020. The two were engaged on January 2020. Since the publishing of her vlog that includes the same day edit by Bob Nicolas, the video has already gained almost 6 million views in just a day.

Alex shares that the newly-minted Moradas were married at the Gonzaga residence in Taytay, Rizal with just their immediate families present.

Here are three things we picked up from Alex’s vlog and what we loved about the Moradas' wedding:

1. Alex and Mikee honored their parents’ wishes.

Kasi sa totoo lang nasa tamang edad na rin kami ni Mikee. Kahit nasa tamang edad na kami, kahit anong request ng magulang ko, lalo na yung magulang ko, ginalang ni Mikee. Nirespeto namin. Kung sakaling gusto namin mag-sama, maikasal kami. So kinasal kami,” Alex says in her vlog.

While a wedding is the beginning for a new family, finding ways to honor our parents during the wedding is a wonderful way to thank them for raising us. The vlog shows that both Mikee and Alex also thanked and praised their parents during their wedding.

2. Alex and Mikee just went for it.

At the end of the vlog, Alex and Mikee were filmed saying “we’ll see you next year, God-willing,” presumably to both their suppliers and guests. The Moradas wanted to start their married life together and they didn’t wait for when they could plan a bigger wedding. Instead, they created their fortune. They kept their eyes on the goal, married life, and realized that the celebration could be done at a later time. Surely, their wedding celebration will not lack aesthetic. But we love how the couple was able to identify what was truly essential even in their wedding–each other, their family, and their faith.

3. They celebrated their big day in style.

The Moradas still made sure they were able to celebrate their day and capture it. Badang Rueda styled the home, filling the staircase-cum-aisle with flowers, Metrophoto captured the memories in photos while Bob Nicolas did the videography, Rajo Laurel designed the bridal dress, Denise Ochoa was the bride’s makeup artist, and Christine Ong-Te provided event coordination.

More and more celebrities and personalities are tying the knot privately and announcing it on a later date. “It’s because we wanted to celebrate together as a family muna. Alam namin na may pandemic. We just wanted to keep it to ourselves for a little while to celebrate,” says Alex. Perhaps this is an effect of the change in our mindsets and attitudes by the pandemic–realizing who are the important people in our lives. And this resoundingly true whether you have 9.5 million subscribers on YouTube or a couple hundred friends on Facebook.

WATCH: Limited Guest List But Lots of Love

We tried hard to hold back our tears as we watched Treehouse Story’s video of Augustine and Claudine Coronado whose wedding plans were thrown off course twice—first by Taal’s eruption and second, by the pandemic. Instead of the wedding vows as the video voice over, Augustine, or Ago for short, and his bride Claudine recount their struggle to get to their wedding day. Finally.

“Just like the community quarantine, we were able to realize that the essentials were really what’s important. Just the two of us, still being together, getting married in front of God and our church and with our families, that was all that mattered,” says Claudine as she finished getting her makeup done.

Agu and Claudine were wed at the Manila Cathedral and held their reception at home.

“I do hope you cherish this moment. It might not be the wedding you dreamed of pero ang importante ay ang inyong pagmamahalan sa isa’t-isa,” says the officiating priest.

Watch Treehouse Story’s tearjerker that has perfectly captured both the predicament and the hidden blessing that is getting married during a pandemic. Stay till the end to catch the surprise that had us grabbing a tissue!

VIDEO: A Socially Distanced Tagaytay Wedding

If you've been following the guidelines for mass gatherings in preparation for your wedding, then you must already know by now the "50% or less than maximum capacity" rule. That means for a wedding venue that seats 100 comfortably, 50 or less total number of people are allowed. But experts are saying that once you add social distancing to this guideline, it will automatically be less than half--and in the case of our example, less than 50 people at one time.

All these percentages and numbers got you confused? The Glens Tagaytay recently released a video to help soon to wed couples imagine what your wedding might look like--social distancing, face masks and shields, PPEs, sanitation included but all merely sprinkled on top of a heartfelt, beautiful wedding. Watch the video above to see what a Tagaytay wedding in the time of coronavirus might could look like. As the Tagaytay Tourism Council says, "We are ready for you soon."
