When Mik and Lyka swiped right on each other on Tinder back in 2018, neither of them could’ve guessed the beautiful future that lay ahead. Their garden wedding story sounds like something out of a fairy tale. Even though they lived a mere 10 minutes away from each other, attended neighboring schools, and even roamed the same hallways of UST, their paths never crossed. But as they say, timing is everything, and God’s clock had set the perfect time for their union.
Garden Wedding Dreams and Traditional Tones
Lyka and Mik chose to exchange vows at The Mango Farm Events Place, which was transformed into a stunning classic garden wedding setting. The color scheme was a tasteful blend of cream, beige, and light brown, complementing the traditional barong worn by the men and the long evening gowns donned by the women. It was an exquisite blend between elegant and comfortable.
Navigating Wedding Preps
Planning a wedding isn’t always a walk in the park. With both having demanding jobs and the hustle of relocating homes, finding time for wedding preps was a significant hurdle. But thanks to modern-day tech tools like Discord and Google Sheets, coupled with weekend meet-ups, they overcame this challenge with ease.
“While preparing for the wedding, our main challenge is juggling our time with work. Since our family transferred to another house, far from Mik’s, we only see each other on weekdays. Whenever we set a schedule for wedding preps on a weekday night through Discord, we usually end up postponing it since we are already tired from our day jobs. As a solution, we really allotted all our weekends to prepare for the wedding. We usually go to each other’s houses and stay in coffee shops to allow us to focus more on the preps. We also kept a shared Google Sheets where we keep track of everything–our to-do lists, expenses, and wishlists.”
When Rainbows Follow Rain in a Garden Wedding
Lyka fondly remembers the roller-coaster of emotions she experienced on her wedding day. Starting the day to the soothing sound of raindropsWaking up to the sound of rain, she worried that her envisioned garden wedding might not become a reality. However, as the hours passed, the skies cleared, and the sun radiantly graced them as they exchanged their vows. It felt as though Mother Nature herself was bestowing her blessing upon their union.
As Lyka recalls: “As we made our first kiss, the sun was shining upon us. At that moment, I know that God was working through our midst, only He can make the skies clear and the sun shine.”
The experience taught them an essential lesson – always keep faith. When planning your big day, including God in your preparations can make things run smoother and feel more blessed.
