When love beckons, it weaves stories that outshine even the most timeless fairy tales. And so it was with Aric Osmundo III “Aric” Lim and Marika “Mikka” Gabrielle Lacanilao. Their story began in 2018, when a mutual friend and a flirty Facebook message set their love story in motion. They began dating soon after, and Aric proposed during his birthday in Tagaytay four years later. Here’s how their wedding went.
Fast forward to July 29, 2023, and the elegant Christ the King Parish Greenmeadows witnessed the union of Mikka and Aric. The reception was held at the Diplomatic Hall of the Marriott Grand Ballroom of Marriott Hotel Manila, a venue that echoed their unique style. Their wedding theme—a delicate balance between Aric’s dark, gothic Alice in Wonderland vision and Mikka’s pastel elegance—was brilliantly captured. The blush pink motif, complemented by dark forest green and Aric’s standout dark teal suit, painted a vivid and enchanting forest for all to revel in.
Yet, behind the ethereal day were real challenges, including juggling work and wedding preparations. Abby Basa of Kiss The Girl Events proved indispensable, guiding the couple through these hurdles.
The Wedding Day
Aric’s day began with anticipation; he looked forward to showcasing his bespoke suit tailored to perfection. Despite his initial reluctance to pen down handwritten vows, he gave in to Mikka’s wish, crafting words straight from the heart.
Mikka’s day, on the other hand, kicked off with a blend of nerves and joy. By 6 am, her makeup session with Joan Quizon was underway, a decision made the night they got engaged. Her stunning bridal gown by Jorenze Atelier not only met but exceeded expectations, making sure she was a vision of loveliness on her special day.
Their ceremony, set to the melodic tunes of BTS’s “Magic Shop” and Coldplay’s “Yellow”, was a fusion of the intimate with the divine. The priest, Rev. Fr. Louie Punzalan, SVD, gifted them with heartfelt marital advice. All in all, their ceremony was lighthearted and memorable.
The reception was another spectacle. Drew Menor‘s styling merged with Live Levels‘ lighting to craft an ambiance that left the newlyweds awestruck. The crowd enjoyed Potato Corner treats and swayed to the tunes hyped up by host Kevin Lapena. The couple’s first dance to “Beautiful” (Goblin OST) was imperfectly perfect, a testament to their genuine connection.
Marriott’s feast ensured none left hungry, with the beef tenderloin and scallops drawing special praise. The day’s magic, including the dramatic rain, was encapsulated in captivating visuals by Kreative Machines and OTD Photos by Arvin Simbulan. The night culminated in a spirited dance session, with DJ Roi Deldig playing hits from different eras.
Inspiration For Couples
For the duo, the journey taught them valuable lessons. Budgeting, while vital, should always be flexible. Last-minute changes, while unexpected, shouldn’t overshadow the larger vision. And as tiring as wedding preparations can be, seeing the culmination makes every effort worth it.
To those on the path to marital bliss, Mikka and Aric advise prioritizing one’s wishes, getting a coordinator, and not being restricted by traditional norms. For grooms, a well-tailored suit can elevate confidence, and for brides, exploring budding designers can yield treasures. Most importantly, they urge couples to cherish the moment, for the wedding day is but a fleeting chapter in the lifelong story of love.
