Soulmates in Scrubs: The Fairytale Union of Rubie and Kim

As the sun began to shine over Rowton Castle, the breathtaking ceremony of two nurses, Rubie May San Miguel and Michael Kim Genilo, took place on a sunny November day, painting a magical scene of unity, love, and commitment. Their love story is a testament to the timeless bond that transcends boundaries and challenges, a narrative woven together by shared passion, friendship, mutual love,  and respect.

Starting Their Journey

Rubie and Kim, nicknamed Poch and Kim respectively, started their journey in February of 2017. They were part of the same group of nurses who traveled from their homeland to the bustling metropolis of London. They found themselves working at the same hospital, residing in the same house, and developing a bond that transcended friendship.

Despite periods of dating on and off, it was in 2018 when they officially started their romantic journey together. Their love blossomed and, on the 11th of April 2021, Kim proposed.  An original plan to propose in Arizona, USA, was disrupted by the pandemic.  But love, resilient and steadfast, found its way.

22 November 2022 / 221122

Fast forward to the 22nd of November 2022, they tied the knot at Rowton Castle. The date, 221122, is an angel number symbolizing new beginnings and spiritual growth, aligning perfectly with the start of their marital journey. Despite the challenges of planning a wedding amidst a full-time job, they were determined to create a wedding that was intimate, personal, and meaningful.

The wedding was drenched in the warm hues of autumn. From the autumn earthy tones that draped the castle’s walls to the bridesmaids’ attires picked from the autumn color palette, every detail reflected the couple’s love for the season’s warmth. In the face of a rainy forecast, the day turned out to be sunny and pleasant.  And this made their outdoor ceremony even more magical.

The highlights of the evening included a sparkler send-off and a first dance to Kodaline’s “The One,” symbolizing the newlyweds’ genuine happiness and satisfaction with their carefully planned event. As the night progressed, guests were offered blankets to combat the chilly November air.  On the menu were grilled chicken fajitas and hot chocolate—a heartwarming conclusion to a night of celebration.

“The wedding is for both of you, and not for anyone else.”

Through their journey, Rubie and Kim learned essential lessons about wedding planning.   The most crucial of these lessons is to understand your vision and communicate it effectively. “Don’t try to please everyone,” Rubie advised future couples. “The wedding is for both of you, and not for anyone else.”

A romantic affair in a fairy-tale castle far away, Rubie and Kim’s wedding was not just a union of two hearts.  It was a celebration of their journey, their resilience, and their commitment to each other.
