At the recent Marriott Moments A-Fair: Luxuriant Expo, held at the MGBX Exhibition Hall of the Manila Marriott Grand Ballroom, fashion met heritage in a breathtaking showcase led by none other than Jaki Peñalosa. As part of the CIFAW (Calgary International Fashion and Arts Week) segment of the event, the celebrated Ilongga designer brought her signature blend of Filipiniana sophistication and modern minimalism to the runway.  This bridal fashion spectacular is presented by Themes & Motifs Bridal Fairs & Wedding Expos, Marriott Bonvoy, and Canada-based Spotlight Couronne Internationale.

Known for elevating handwoven hablon, piña, and cocoon silk, Jaki’s collection celebrated understated elegance and strong cultural roots. Her pieces gracefully flowed in earth-toned hues and neutral palettes, masterfully highlighting both the artisanal craftsmanship of Iloilo and contemporary bridal style. Delicate embroidery, draped silhouettes, and thoughtful structure came together in a lookbook perfect for brides (and their entourage) who want to wear their story—and their heritage—down the aisle.

“I design so that one can wear their culture,” Jaki shared. And wear it, they did. Her CIFAW runway show was a true homage to the Filipino identity, especially fitting for the event’s central theme: “Home.” It struck a powerful chord with soon-to-weds in the audience, many of whom are looking for fashion that speaks not only to personal style but also to family, history, and heart.

As president of the Designers Guild of Iloilo, and with international shows from Milan to Canada under her belt, Jaki Peñalosa continues to inspire brides who seek authenticity in their fashion choices. For couples dreaming of a wedding look that’s both timeless and rooted in tradition, her designs offer a romantic, meaningful way to say “I do.”
