Andrew and Donna’s Trek to True Love
It all started with a road trip… Andrew Aquino met Donna Luague at a bus terminal as they were getting ready to board a Zambales-bound bus. The two got to talking about their backpacking adventures and Andrew realized that the extraordinary woman before him did a lot of solo traveling. Something clicked on the course of that trip and they became travel buddies and eventually, lovers.
In the two years since that fateful day, they’ve experienced the challenges and victories of being on the road personifying the saying that you can genuinely get to know someone when you travel with them. After visiting countless destinations around the Philippines as a twosome and seeing each other at their most exhausted and “hangry” moments, this groom-to-be knew that he wanted Donna to be more than a travel patner. He wanted to seal the dela by asking her to be his life partner, and so the beginnings of a proposal plan was put in motion.

During their first international trip, one that led them to Malaysia to trek up Mt. Kinabalu, Andrew carefull stowed the engagement ring in his jacket and approached their other travel companions to share his plan while his ladylove was at their campsite showering. Their fellow travelers gamely agreed to help out by documenting the events that would soon follow.
When the group reached the summit, everyone rushed to take photos, making it a little too crowded to do the proposal properly. The groom-to-be decided to let Donna pick a photo op spot instead to ensure that things would follow organically. During the descent, Donna ran towards the very scenic South Peak, the most famous spot to take photos in Mt. Kinabalu. As the pair posed for pics in front of the iconic backdrop, Andrew finally turned to Donna and said, “Bhe, I love you so much, and I can’t imagine life without you.”
As Donna started to cry, Andrew expressed his wish to visit many more destinations with his love by his side. He concluded, “Would you be willing to join me in an adventure of a lifetime? Will you marry me?” And on that memorable first trip abroad, the loving pair reached a milestone in their travel adventures but more significantly, in their love journey.
