Melissa Ricks’ Intimate Backyard Wedding

Everything was lowkey and simple for this couple

Melissa Ricks and Michael Macatangay got married on May 23, 2021 at a chapel in California followed by a garden reception. Michael proposed to Melissa in August 2020 and for both their proposal and imntimate wedding–as well as other special events in Melissa’s life–NicePrint Photography captured the memories.

She reveals this detail via her Instagram post:

“5 yrs ago I was in a totally different place in my life, I wouldn’t think I would be where I am today. God has truly been good, he has answered my prayers as he has promised

Thank you @niceprintphoto for capturing the my most beautiful moments of my life in the past 6 years, you guys have captured all of the best parts and most of all the blessings I have received. You guys are my Lucky charms!”

Melissa and Michael took quite the DIY route for their wedding, even buying snacks and drinks for their guests on the day they were to walk down the aisle. Melissa did her own hair and makeup styling and there were no bridesmaids to zip her into her LBD Designs by Lauren Berberabe wedding dress. She tells the story via her first Instagram post about her wedding:

“Our special day made special by my closest friends and relatives here in California in only 3 weeks!

I woke up early, hubby cooked breakfast, we went to the grocery to get some snacks and soda for the guests, went through the drive thru at jack in the box to get churros and tacos, then proceeded home to get ready. I did my own hair and makeup, zipped myself into my gown, drove down to the chapel, had a simple ceremony with 15 people. Afterwards we had the reception in my step dads backyard. Couldn’t get any simpler than that.”

The couples’ guests were in their garden party chic attire and the couple did the traditional money dance. Melissa and Michael also appears to have enjoyed their simple and relaxed intimate wedding with other dance performances with their guests.

Melissa had this to say about her wedding dress:

“I honestly didn’t know what I wanted to wear, what I knew is I wanted it simple and comfortable, and that’s exactly how it was! Actually, Michael had more participation on my gown, from the fabric choice, to design! Love how hands on he was! Can you believe he talked to Lauren before I did! Haha. Thank you Batangas-Based designer @laurenbabyrabe and @laurenberberabedesigns for making me my dream gown in a “rush”. Thank you for all the love and support!”
