Tropical Themed Tagaytay Garden Wedding

This couple found inspiration from their meeting place–the beach!
Beatrice Castro met Dan Angelo Mendiola during the infamous Laboracay in 2013 during the popular beach island’s heyday. “We weren’t really looking for love, but safe to say we fell in love in a hopeless place,” she jokes.

No wonder the beach played a central role for the couple’s wedding plans. But given the restrictions of the times, Dan and Bea decided to instead have an intimate wedding at Tagaytay with a tropical and beachy theme.

Dan and Bea were wed on December 29, 2021 at Bella Rosa Gardens. For Bea, it was the best decision to book a venue that served as their preparations venue, accommodations, chapel, and reception venue.

Below Bea shares with Inspirations.ph her top tips on planning a garden wedding. Scroll down to read and to see their beautiful photos!

Did you have a theme of motif for your wedding?
Since we love the sea, we really wanted a tropical and beachy theme.

A destination wedding with 200 of our family & friends in Boracay was the initial, super raw, super early plan. It would have been a “full circle” moment, don’t you think?

But life had different plans for us so we booked our second choice which was Bella Rosa Gardens in Cavite because we really wanted to have everything (chapel, reception, prep place, accommodation for guests) all in one place.

Super plus that the venue’s lush gardens were aligned with our tropical theme. Super duper plus because it’s also outdoors with lots of breezy fresh air which is perfect given the pandemic!

What were the challenges encountered during the wedding preparation?
Nothing major, really. That’s the convenience of booking an all-in-one venue. We were stress-free bride & groomchilla! Looking back, our only challenge was trimming the guest list to 70 pax only.

It was with a heavy heart that we had to dis-invite some of our close friends and family but thankfully, they were all super understanding.

How did you feel during your wedding?
Nervous and overwhelmed at first but pure bliss after.

What were the most memorable moments from your wedding?
We can’t really pinpoint just a few moments because the entire day was so special and memorable!

I guess what we’re really kilig over is our guests’ feedback on how much fun they had. Everyone had a rough year with the pandemic and all and it was just so, so much fun to finally see each other again!

Please share your advice for couples planning their wedding:

  • Don’t scrimp on food and drinks but make sure it’s good food. Guests will enjoy your event more when they’ve been wined and dined well.
  • Book an all-in-one venue! Preferably one that is outdoors with lots of fresh air so everyone will feel safe.
  • Invest in a good coordinator. They make all the difference.
  • Ask your photo and video to also capture moments you missed (cocktail hours, guests reaction videos to speeches etc.). It’s so fun to relive the whole event again and see it from your guests’ perspective.
  • Relax and enjoy your special day! Bask and absorb all the love <3
  • Don’t get too drunk and blackout because you would want to remember all the little details of your day! Haha!
