Yes, You Can Get Married In a P100 Wedding Dress From Ukay—Just Look At This Photographer

Shaira Luna is a gorgeous bride in vintage ukay.

Shaira Luna married Cocoy Aranas—and everything about their big day reflected their personalities
Popular celebrity photographer made headlines once she tied the knot because her wedding gown cost only P100. Shaira Luna is known to love all things vintage and her sense of style has always inspired others, it’s no surprise that the same things would translate to her wedding as well.

Shaira’s friend who’s also a stylist, Jonard Palteng, shared details about her wedding dress on his Instagram stories and he revealed that her dress was sourced from San Fernando, La Union. “In true Shaira Luna fashion, she wore a thrifted vintage dress,” he shared on Instagram stories.

He told Cosmo.ph that “Knowing Shaira, she wouldn’t want a traditional wedding dress.” He spotted the vintage dress while ukay shopping and immediately thought of Shaira. The bride completed the look with her signature red lip, a vintage half cap from Glorious Dias, and a pair of vintage gloves.

Shaira Luna and Cocoy Aranas were married on August 12, 2022 at Ilustrado Restaurant in Intamuros, Manila. And the couple chose a venue that also had an old-world look.

Getting married on your own terms

Can you get married in a P100 wedding dress? Absolutely! We love that Shaira and Cocoy did their wedding their way. She also did her own makeup—ala Duchess Kate Middleton!

It may not be the way some couples are doing it today but that’s what’s beautiful about weddings—it should reflect your values and who you are. No need to feel pressured to do it a particular way if that’s not what you’re comfortable with or makes you happy.

We’re learning from Shaira and Cocoy’s wedding that it’s okay to do only what you want to do and to omit the things that don’t matter as much to you, the bride and groom. If your family is helping you pay for the wedding or has requests or strong feelings about particular details, it’s always good to communicate openly to avoid ill feelings or to manage expectations.

The bride and groom enlisted the help of set designer and interior and prop stylist Justine Arcega-Bumanlag to style the restaurant according to their liking.

Shaira and Cocoy’s ninang includes actress Dimples Romana—and looks like even more. Shaira replied to Dimples’ Instagram post of their wedding, “Best ninang, photographer, reels-er, hairstylist, and host!!! Thank you for taking care of us yesterday, and always! We love you!!!”

Also in attendance at her wedding was Mimiyuuuh—and Shaira did take a few photos of her friends during her own wedding. That’s what we call getting married on your own terms!
