Migo and Billie – Just the Essentials

‘The only thought running through my mind was “I’m marrying my bestfriend”’

Ramon Miguel Leus and Ysabella Marie Tiongson met in college but began their romance as young professionals. They were an office away from each other which led to coffee together, to lunches, to dinners. After Migo proposed to Billie, the couple decided on an intimate wedding at bride’s home with just two months of planning.

Here’s how Migo and Billie decided on their intimate and why sticking to the essentials is a decision they did not regret, according to the new Mrs. Leus:

What were your non-negotiables?

I was sure of three absolute non negotiables: A stylist because the wedding will be in my home and I wanted to transform it for our special day. A professional photographer because we will have these photos forever and we wanted photos that could best express how our wedding day went. And lastly, good food; because for a good experience for your guests, it’s always about the food. Being in PR and Events for several years, I already knew what was important to me. I was happy to let go of all the unnecessary expenses that big weddings usually have and I focused more on what was more meaningful for us as a couple.

Was this the wedding you envisioned?

The original wedding we had imagined was in a small vineyard in the countryside of Italy. Migo and I would always talk about a small intimate destination wedding and being that I would always romanticize Italy, that was our first choice. If you can see, the wedding we have is not Italy but greatly inspired by it. All that’s really changed is the country we had our wedding in, but everything was exactly as I’ve imagined it to be and even better because our wedding was held in our home which my late Grandfather built. We are not sad about this, because our honeymoon will be in Italy, when everything is okay.

How did you feel during your wedding day?

I felt very calm. I saw how great my team was, my coordinator and my sister, the Matron of Honor, was on top of everything alongside my parents, cousins, and titas who helped and made sure any challenge that arises did not reach me anymore. My only hurdle was that I was filled with emotions, I was shaking and had to drink a glass of wine, hahaThe only thought running through my head was I was marrying my best friend. I did not even care to think about the styling, the food or the photos anymore.

What’s your advice to other couples planning their intimate wedd

Focus on what you want. What helped us in the planning process was to categorize the three to five most important things and focus your budget and planning on that. The other things, the ones you see are not going to be important the very next day, do away with it. I promise, the morning you wake up after the wedding, you will not have regrets on how much you spent because you focused on the only things you really wanted. The wedding is a one day celebration, so most of your budget and focus should go to your marriage and the life you will have together.
